As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad that will travel to Sri Lanka for the upcoming white-ball tour, some notable players have missed out. The Indian cricket team will take on Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo from August 2 to August 7.

### Big Names Missing from India’s ODI Squad

#### Ruturaj Gaikwad
The right-handed top-order batter has not had a consistent string of games in the 50-over format. He has struggled to find stability when playing in the ODI side. His last 50-over game was against South Africa at Gqeberha in 2023 but has struggled to rack up big scores.

#### Sanju Samson
This omission is particularly interesting as in Samson’s last ODI, he scored a match-winning century against the Proteas at Paarl. Despite his impressive performance, he has been overlooked again, struggling to find stability or a consistent run of games to build confidence.

#### Ravindra Jadeja
The star Indian all-rounder, a mainstay in the one-day setup, seems to have missed out on a spot in favor of Washington Sundar. Jadeja last played a 50-over game during the ODI World Cup Final 2023 in Ahmedabad.

### Other Notable Omissions
Key players in the white-ball format like Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya have not been picked for the squad. Additionally, Rinku Singh, Rajat Patidar, and Tilak Varma, who were part of the ODI squad that toured South Africa earlier, have also missed out.

#### Rishabh Pant’s Return
Rishabh Pant will make his comeback to the 50-over side after more than one and a half years. His last appearance in the ODI circuit was against New Zealand in Christchurch in November 2022.
